A one time used sequence for the end of year EMI awards ceremony. The sequence headed up the event which was followed by each award based on album sales for the year.

The entire catalogue of the years EMI album covers were sourced and made consistent sizes in photoshop. Special mosaic creating software was then utilised to take suitable album covers from the huge number of files to recreate a specific cover artwork. The large resolution file was then taken into Maya, where the image was dissected using a grid so that each cover image could be manipulated separately. The ripple, warp and spinning effects were then added into the animation and the sequence was made to work with the music. The final result was created using Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Discreet Flint, Combustion and After Effects. DazPix also created 75 separate strap animations, countdowns, end credits and bumpers for the awards film.

Over three hour-long episodes, Kelly discovers the bizarre and unknown society of Japan by taking the ultimate working holiday. Throwing herself into a wide range of jobs and after-work activities, Kelly struggles with the language barrier and homesickness, but battles through in classic Osbourne style.

The Title Sequence was designed and created in three days due to a very tight deadline. We used photography from the Japanese shoot and other sources to give a brief insight into the various jobs Kelly undertook, and places she visited during her Japanese adventure. Autodesk Discreet Combustion and Adobe After Effects were used heavily to bring the photography and design elements to life.

No other military force retains the chilling, enigmatic mystery of the French Foreign Legion. It’s been painted as the definitive military machine; the harsh last resort for men on the run; and the ultimate boys own adventure. In Escape To The Legion the historical appeal of Lad’s army combines with the genuine living-history experience of Frontier House.
Led by explorer and former SAS trainer Bear Grylls, a group of mainly British men were placed in a Saharan Foreign Legion Fort where for 4 weeks they experienced a compressed Foreign Legion training programme led by 3 full uniformed former Legionnaires. The filming will followed the daily ups and downs of these recruits as they attempted to turn themselves into viable Legionnaires.

The brief for this sequence was to give an impression of the intense heat, dryness, and desolation of the Saharan desert Frontier House training fort as well as illustrate how basic and rough life was during training. We made use of some wonderful super 8mm film footage shot on location and edited the body of the sequence with shots of the fort and soldiers on their exercises. Fire, a map, skull and effects were added to create the right tone for the show, and the whole sequence was treated with multilayering, filmic effects, extra grain and given a film sprocket border. Avid Composer was used for the edit, the compositing, animation and effects work was done on Autodesk Discreet Flint with some additional After Effects touches.

The UK Music Hall of Fame was an awards ceremony to honour musicians, of any nationality, for their lifetime contributions to music in the United Kingdom. The Hall of Fame started in 2004 with the induction of five founder members and five more members selected by a public televote, two from each of the last five decades. In subsequent years, a panel of more than 60 journalists and music industry executives decided the people and groups to be inducted. The ceremony was last held in 2006, and has since been cancelled.
DazPix and Huw Davies were asked to provide a series of animations for the documentary program that accompanied the awards ceremony in the style of ‘The Kid Stays In The Picture’. The clips shown in the edited clips above are an example of the series of animations that were created from still photgraphs, scanned, cut out, retouched and animated in Discreet Combustion.

These Celebrities are put through the toughest training on earth under three former commandos in the real forces. They are tested with their fitness and also their brains by completing tough training in preparation for a mission. They have six missions in total such as locating a downed pilot over enemy lines across rugged and tough terrain, and seiging a building to save hostages.

The animation for this title sequence was designed and created in Autodesk Discreet Combustion, combining live action and effects specially shot effects elements. A strong grade, animated camera shake, and sound design were added to give the sequence the impact it needed for an action reality series.

Jimmy Carr’s Sunday Best was a live chat show and comedy mix which would have aired on Sunday afternoons but unfortunately didn’t get past the pilot stage on this occasion.

The sequence was designed in Photoshop and animated in Autodesk Discreet Combustion.

Nip/Tuck meets Extreme Makeover in this series that follows the real drama at a New York plastic surgery clinic. From consultation to recovery, the programme gets up close and personal with the wealthy plastic surgeons as they transform and reshape patients who in turn embark on an emotional journey hoping to change and improve their lives.
The sequence used footage specially shot in a New York studio and Directed over the telephone. The two featured patients were put on turntables against a white cyc. The material was sent to London where we edited the shots, then warped and morphed the bodily changes in Autodesk Discreet Flint, before grading and adding the butterfly shadow animations that were made in combustion, and the end title.
