Talvin Singh – OK

Ok was the debut release of tabla player and music producer Talvin Singh, and the album was nine months in the making. The title was chosen because of the universal recognition of the word OK, which can be understood almost anywhere in the world. It is mostly a reinterpretation of Indian classical music with flute, sitar, and tabla. The album won him the Mercury Music Prize.

This video was a lot of fun to make, layering and compositing lots of flash animation elements created by Paul Donnellon. We used Autodesk Discreet Flame to put the video together, retiming shots, both live action and animation, adding lots of light and shadow effects, many additional layers, and visual tweaks to bring the cartoon concept to life. It was an exhausting but very satisfying result at the end of 5 intensive days.
